WELCOME ABOARD!

My love for cruising started years ago aboard the Carnival Paradise. It was our first family cruise, and from the moment we stepped onboard, we were hooked.

But I can tell you the exact moment I fell in love with cruising.

I was watching my oldest daughter, Myah, who was only nine years old at the time. She was completely captivated by the ship’s cruise director, “Sparkle.” At some point during the cruise, she turned to my wife and me and announced that when she grew up, she wanted to be a cruise director.

There was something about seeing the experience through her nine-year-old eyes. The ship wasn’t just taking us somewhere. For a few days, it had become this incredible little world our family got to share.

That sailing was pure magic, and it cemented something I still believe today:

There is simply no better way to travel.

Since then, cruising has become more than just a getaway for our family. It’s how we connect, explore, recharge, and, most importantly, make memories together.

NO WRONG WAY TO CRUISE

One of the things I love most about cruising, especially when traveling with a large group of family and friends, is the freedom it gives everyone.

If I want to get up early, grab some coffee, explore the ship and find something to do all day, I can.

If my wife wants to find a chair by the pool, open a book and spend a few hours doing absolutely nothing, she can.

Neither of us is doing it wrong.

We can spend the whole day together, or we can go our separate ways and meet for dinner, swap stories about what we did, and spend the evening enjoying the ship together.

That’s the beauty of cruising. There is no wrong way to do it.

And you won’t find cruise-line snobbery here, either.

Every cruise line does some things exceptionally well. Every ship has something worth discovering. What one cruiser loves, another may not, and that’s okay.

We’re not here to tell you which cruise line you’re supposed to like.

We’re here to help you get more out of the one you’re sailing.

A BETTER PERSPECTIVE ON THE WATER

I’ve watched cruisers spend far too much of their vacation comparing.

This ship did this better. That cruise line had better food. The pool was bigger on another ship. The entertainment was better last year.

Before long, they’re so busy comparing the vacation they’re on to another vacation that they’re missing the one happening right in front of them.

Sometimes we just need to remember where we are.

You’re on vacation.

Nobody has to cook. Nobody has to clean. Nobody has to go to work. You’re somewhere in the middle of the ocean, probably headed toward someplace beautiful, with people you care about.

Slow down. Look around.

Watch the wake for a while. Find the little corner of the ship everyone else seems to walk past. Talk to a crew member. Try something you’ve never eaten. Stay up too late. Get up early enough to watch the sunrise at sea.

Terry Cruises exists to help you notice those things.

Not to convince you that you’re on the best ship in the world, but to help you discover the best parts of the ship you’re already on.

WHAT YOU’LL FIND HERE

Terry Cruises is not about being the know-it-all of cruising. There are plenty of places on the internet willing to compete for that title.

That’s not what we’re trying to build.

We want to make cruising a little easier to understand and a lot easier to enjoy.

You’ll find cruise news worth knowing, tips that can actually help, ship information that points you toward things worth discovering, and opportunities for us to get onboard and cruise together.

But some of the best information here won’t come from me.

It will come from you.

From cruisers who have found a great restaurant, discovered a quiet spot on a ship, learned something the hard way, sailed a ship we’ve never experienced, or simply have a story that might help somebody else.

That’s why Terry Cruises is becoming a community as much as it is a publication.

Whether you’re planning your very first voyage or your fiftieth, there’s room for you here.

You don’t have to cruise the way I cruise.

You don’t have to love the ships I love.

And you certainly don’t have to spend your vacation doing what somebody on the internet tells you you’re supposed to do.

Find your way to cruise.

Grab a deck chair. Look around. Ask questions. Share what you’ve learned. And somewhere along the way, don’t forget to stop and enjoy where you are.

Because years from now, you probably won’t remember every meal you ate or every show you watched.

But you’ll remember the people who were sitting beside you.
